Understanding Dennis Smith’s Injury

So, Wednesday night, Dennis Smith Jr. tried to end the city of Atlanta with a dunk. In the process, he landed awkwardly and had to leave for a couple of minutes. He returned and finished the game, but lo and behold, he’s been ruled out for tonight and tomorrow’s game.

The diagnosis is knee effusion in the left knee. It’s an ultra fancy medical term for swelling in the knee. The way he landed Wednesday night caused a build up of fluid in the knee. Smith Jr. has a history with this knee. He tore the left ACL before senior year in high school.

Long story short, it’s not necessarily a serious injury, but it does need to be taken care of before he returns. Rest, ice, and medication usually do the trick.

It’s a long season, so I’d rather him take care of it now and come back at 100%. Rest up Dennis.

  1. If he learned better landing mechanics he could avoid being a future Derrick Rose. Yogi Ferrell cold though so I ain’t worried
